Personal protective items (PPI)
Personal protective items include such clothing as gloves, working suits, overalls, masks, footwear etc.
When quality of PPI is confirmed it means that the items are safe for application, do not constitute any threat to working environment and help to avoid any undesirable impact of hazardous industry.
In 2011 the Technical Regulation “On safety of personal protective items” (ТR СU 019/2011) was enacted. This document stipulates the quality requirements which are to be complied with in order to export and sell PPI in the Customs Union.
Appendix 4 of the mentioned Regulation stipulates groups of PPI and the way of its quality confirmation. For example, footwear protecting from vibration and sliding and masks protecting from electro-magnetic fields are subject to declaration of conformity. At the same time, footwear protecting from cuts, face masks protecting respiratory organs, suits protecting from high and low temperatures as well as from electrical arc, static electricity are subject to certification.
Please note, that according to ТR СU 019/2011 both declaration and certificate of require testing. Depending on unique features of the item, the following characteristics of the equipment may be tested: fire resistance, antistaticity, waterproofing, thermal performance and protection from electric arc. Certificate requires mandatory site audit. Maximum term of validity of certificate and declaration of conformity is 5 years.
