Spare Parts for vehicles
According to Technical Regulation of the Customs Union ТR СU 018/2011 "On safety for wheeled vehicles“ all spare parts for wheeled vehicles such as silent blocks, suspension mount, stabilizer bar, brakes and shock absorbers are subject to quality confirmation. The spare parts which are not on the list of TR CU 018 such as lending legs, parts made from ferrous metals, screws and bolts do not require mandatory quality confirmation and it is possible to obtain an exemption letter from a certification authority.
Please note that maximum term of validity of a certificate is 4 years.
In case there is a huge list of spare parts, there are several ways to cover them all by a minimum number of certificates.
The main question here is how to certify big amount of spare parts in one certificate. While confirming quality of the goods, a certification body is to indicate all items and models and the procedure is sometimes complicated. Therefore our company is ready to offer the best practices to name all the items.
Approach #1: To name all the items In others words to identify a basic pattern of an item name and substitute all the letters and digits for “x” and “y”. For example, “14XXYY, where “x” means a digit from 1 to 9, and “y” means a letter from A to Z”. Unfortunately that is not a universal approach. If the list of the products is too wide, then it is more reasonable to apply Approach #2 or Approach #3
Approach #2: to Name car brands for which the spare parts are produced This approach helps to avoid the problem of listing all the items, but it is necessary to obtain a Transport Vehicle Type Approval for each vehicle brand – that will require additional time, money and paperwork.
Approach #3: Put a reference to a catalogue of the products In this case an identification number of a catalogue will be stated in the certificate, but this approach is not frequently used for the following reason. A certification body bears responsibility for the quality of the goods which it has certified and there is no guarantee that in the future the catalogue will remain the same – most probably a model range will expand and certification body cannot confirm quality of newly added items. Moreover, it is necessary to conduct testing. That leads to additional costs such as laboratory’s work and transportation of the samples.
We remind you that an applicant for the EAC certificate may only be the resident of the Customs Union (with one exception), maximum term of validity of a certificate is 4 years and it is necessary to pay inspection control fee annually. In most cases site audit is required but it can be replaced by ISO 9001 certificate.
