RZD (Russian Railways)

Technical Regulation of the Customs Union "On safety of railway rolling stock (ТR СU 001/2011)” took effect on August 1, 2014. A 2 year transition period was given to the exporters in order to renew approvals according to the latest quality requirements of the Customs Union.

According to Art.6 of the above Technical Regulation, quality of the product  can be confirmed by a declaration or a certificate of conformity.  Maximum term of validity of both documents is 5 years. An applicant shall submit a full set of the documents, including technical and design documents, Safety Justification, test reports, technical conditions etc.

There are two major state certification bodies accredited to confirm the quality of the goods used for railway industry:  the Railway Research Institute ("VNIIZhT") and the Research  Institute for Railway Hygiene ("VNIIZhG").

The Railway Research Institute ("VNIIZhT") is engaged in testing and quality confirmation of heavy equipment such as set of wheels. The Research  Institute for Railway Hygiene ("VNIIZhG") deals with hygienic compliance of the equipment installed and materials iused inside the rail car such as plumbing equipment, material for seat’s furnishing and etc).
